gClass Folders is a free add-on for Google Spreadsheets that will automate the creation of class folders for both students and teachers with the correct permission levels to view or edit documents and folders. This script was created by teachers for teachers and is safe to use.
This is an example of what a classroom folder structure might look like:
Class Edit: This folder contains files that are editable by everyone in the class, for example: group assignments
Class View: This folder contains files that are only viewable by everyone in the class, for example: syllabus, worksheet templates.
Assignment Folders: Student work is stored here and can only be seen by the student owner and the classroom teacher
Teacher (optional): This folder is used by gClass Hub to store files for other applications that work together with gClass Folders like Doctopus.
